Personal Experience

Nand is a qualified lawyer and was admitted to the Bar Council of Delhi in the year 2000. He heads the Taxation, Labour and Employment Laws and Admiralty areas of practise at SL Partners.He advises clients on complex taxation issues including tax structuring, classification of commodities and services for GST / Customs levy, issues relating to Foreign Trade Policies (licenses etc.), and other tax related strategies. He also assists clients in disputes arising out of tax demands including reply to show cause notices, appeals before appellate authorities including Tax Tribunal, High Court and Supreme Court, challenging circulars / Government orders relating to tax before the High Court. He appears before the Tax Tribunals, High Courts across the Country and Supreme Court to represent clients and argue matters on their behalf.

Nand actively advises employers in the areas of Employment laws. He advises the employers, especially the HR / Personnel department, formulating employee policies, employment contracts and amendment thereto, retrenchment strategies, disciplinary action, trade union issues, sexual harassment of women at workplace issues, work from home policies etc.

Nand also advises clients on the recovering maritime claims against vessels and owners of vessels. He provides handholding services to the clients right from filing Admiralty suits, seeking order from the Court for arrest of vessel, executing warrant of arrest through the Sheriff of Mumbai and consequent sale of the vessel to secure the maritime claims of his clients.

The Nand has advised clients across the industry including manufacturing, oil and gas, banking, solar energy, real estate, information technology, media, cement, steel, automotive, pharmaceutical etc.

Prior to joining SL Partners, Nand had worked with leading taxation firms viz. Lakshmikumaran & Sridhran and BMR Advisors. He was a Partner with HSA Advocates heading the tax practise in the firm and thereafter was a Partner with DSK Legal. With effect from April 2011, he started as an independent practise as a counsel in the above areas of practise.
